Monthly Archives: September 2013

Dear Rosebud,

Where has the last month gone? Or the last eight?! You have been in this world a whole eight months. Can you believe it? This September has flown by for all of us- you’ve been a busy girl!

You started crawling one day (trying to reach a Chicken Express box… ;)), popped your first tooth the next, popped your second tooth a couple days later and started pulling up on things- all within a couple weeks! Mama and Daddy weren’t quite ready for all that. πŸ˜‰ It didn’t take you long to realize you can now go, go, go anywhere you want.

You want to stand up all the time now. You’ll pull up on anything you can get your hands on. Mama has to pull you away from the toilet every now and then… Sigh.

You’ve gotten to spend time with lots of cousins this month, as well as little friends! This is your friend Brayden who is three months old. πŸ™‚ I think you overwhelmed him by your excitement to see him… as evidenced by your happy screaming and chewing on his toes. :/

We love you so, so much- and it only grows more with each passing day. I’ve never laughed so much out of sheer happiness. We are so thankful for every minute we spend with you. You are a gift to us! Happy 8-month birthday, Rosebud.

Sister, Sister [13 week update]

I know I’m not the only one singing that song in my head when you read the post title… Come on, 90’s lovers!

Anyways, this post is not about Tia and Tamera. Though, that might be a fun post. Anyway, this is about my sister and I, who are pregnant at the same time and are due two weeks apart! Meeeep! Yeah. I know. So fun. We took our first tummy picture together this weekend when we went to visit- next one most likely to occur on Thanksgiving.

What’s more crazy about this scenario? The fact that we are 17 years apart in age, or the fact that this is her 9th baby and this is my 2nd?! Here, I am 13 weeks along and she is about 15 weeks.

After our sonogram I mentioned last week, my estimated due date is March 27th! However, considering Rosebud was born 2 weeks past her due date, let’s all just plan for an early April baby, kay? Kay. πŸ™‚

I also want to say thank you to everyone for your encouraging comments- especially those with babes close together. I’m excited for Rosebud and #2 to be buddies and grow up together! Please keep your comments and emails coming. I enjoy reading them so much.

New Project: Rosebud’s Blooms [Discount alert!]

I’ve always had a very particular taste in clothes, accessories, etc, and my daughter has not escaped my style. πŸ™‚ Rosebud’s “take-home” outfit from the birth center was nothing pink- at all. She wore a grey, ruffled dress with crochet detail, black leggings, a red coat and socks with red bows. Only after we had gotten her dressed did I realize this was not a typical baby-girl-going-home outfit. It was very much my style, and (I thought) she looked adorable! πŸ˜‰

All that to say, a few weeks ago I decided I really wanted some new headbands for little Rosebud. Inspired by the coming seasons (Fall and Winter are my FAVORITE!), I searched in stores for what I had in mind, but couldn’t find anything close to what I wanted. So, I decided to take it upon myself to create exactly what I wanted- simple, feminine, seasonal, and unique.Β Once I got started, I. couldn’t .stop. I have had so much fun creating these little guys, playing with different color combinations and fabrics, and matching them up with outfits in Rosebud’s closet.

All my fun led to an idea- I could share these with y’all! So, I am excited to announce that I have opened an Etsy shop called “Rosebud’s Blooms.” (Creative, I know. ;)) I’ve listed a few Fall and Winter inspired pieces, with more to be added soon. [I’m going to be really honest here and say that I’m SUPER nervous about this! I always get embarrassed to show anything I make to the general public. Wah! Oh well, here goes nothing. :)]

To kick-start the shop, I am giving my blogosphere friends a 30% discount until Friday!Β Use the code ROSEBUDS30 on any headband or clip and get the discounted price. πŸ™‚

Check back for new headbands, giveaways, and more discounts! Let me know what you think- but be nice. πŸ˜‰ Don’t hurt my fragile little soul! (Just kidding. Sort of.)

Pregnancy Update: 11, 12, 13 weeks?

Here it is, my first pregnancy update! πŸ™‚

It took a little while for me to be excited about being pregnant again. Don’t get me wrong- we were always excited about another person in our family, but first-trimester nausea and initial shock kept me from remembering the things I enjoyed about my first pregnancy. Once I got past Β those things and started pulling out my old maternity clothes… I finally got the warm fuzzies. πŸ™‚

We interviewed a new midwife last week, and I have to say- I am incredibly excited and thankful to have found her and the birth center we chose this time! With Rosie, we met several midwives at a birth center in our town, but we never knew who would be on call when delivery day came. Β In the end, it was a midwife we had never met! (You can read all about how that turned out here. :)) This time around, we are hiring a midwife. In her words, she will be at my birth unless she is “dead on the side of the road.” We pray that doesn’t happen! πŸ˜‰

All that to say, we got some blood work done a few weeks ago, and those results showed I would now be 11-12 weeks pregnant. Well, after talking to the midwife, we realized that by my cycle I should be about 13-14 weeks pregnant- same as my older sister!!! Kathaleen, our midwife, scheduled a sonogram for tomorrow so we could determine a more reliable due date. We are so excited to “see” our little baby for the first time! We don’t plan on being able to determine the gender quite yet, but if we can….. πŸ™‚

On another note, I am excited to share that I have been reading what is becoming a top seller on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, Trim Healthy Mama! The authors, Pearl Barrett and Serene Allison, were kind enough to send me a copy to read and review. I’m excited to implement the lessons they’ve learned throughout my pregnancy. I’m still in the middle of reading the book, but I’ve already tried some of their recipes and ideas in the kitchen. I can tell I have much more energy and a generally better attitude when I’ve eaten the way they’ve suggested. I can’t wait to finish the book and share what I learn with you all!

Anyone else pregnant? Or have two babies close together? I’d love to hear from you and keep up with you! Leave a comment or use the “Contact Me” button and send me an email!
